Obituary for Billy Mullins

Billy “Bill” Mullins, age 79, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Bill was born March 19, 1939 in Bakersfield, Missouri. He was the son of John and Madge (Holland) Mullins. He was the 5th of 8 boys. Bill graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1958. In 1959, he was drafted into the Army where he served his country while stationed in Alaska. He later returned to Kansas City, Missouri and went to work for Roadway Transportation as a truck driver. He retired after 33 years and earned several awards including, the “2 million mile accident free” award. In 1976, Bill met the love of his life, Connie (Triplett) Walters. They were married for 43 wonderful years. Bill obeyed the Gospel soon after he married Connie and was a steadfast and faithful member of the Lord’s church. He attended the Church of Christ congregation at 85th and Euclid in Kansas City, Missouri where he will be dearly missed by all of his brothers and sisters in Christ. Bill was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved hunting, fishing and sports. Bill had such a giving spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need or share vegetables from his garden. He was a wealth of knowledge and always had time to help you solve whatever problem you might have. He expressed himself with a language all his own and we can only hope his funny expressions will live on in all of us. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bob Mullins of Versailles, MO and Joe Mullins of Atlanta, GA. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Connie, sons Mike Walters and his wife, Karen of Overland Park, KS, Danny Walters and his wife Brandie of Wellington, MO; four grandchildren, Eryn Walters, Zach Walters, Garrett Walters and Kara Walters; brothers, Jack Mullins of Wichita, KS, Rex Mullins of Branson, MO, Gib Mullins of Bakersfield, MO and Chuck Mullins of Springfield, MO. Bill’s oldest brother, Gene Mullins of Bakersfield, MO, passed away on July 6, 2018, just two days after Bill.
